There’s something about the Caribbean that refuses to stay silent. The colors are vibrant. The rhythm of the water is mesmerizing. Time moves differently once you’re out there. It all wants to become music. That’s exactly how Caribbean Haze came to life.
Lyrics
Wake up slow, St. Thomas in the sun,
St. John waters call, the day’s begun.
Palms a-sway, sexy girls pass by,
Snorkel through the coral, turtles driftin’ nigh.
Lazy days, Caribbean haze,
Yachts a-driftin’ through the sapphire waves.
Cocktails in hand, fish a-dancin’ bright,
Reggae beats playin’, we groove all night.
Tortola breeze, Virgin Gorda shine,
Barbados rhythm, Antigua wine.
Jamaica drums and Grenada lights,
Skating through the bay, we ride the nights.
Curaçao reefs, colors everywhere,
Turtles glide, fishes in the air.
Life is sweet, under moon and palm,
Reggae sway, we feel the calm.
Lazy days, Caribbean haze,
Yachts a-driftin’ through the sapphire waves.
Cocktails in hand, fish a-dancin’ bright,
Reggae beats playin’, we groove all night.
St. Thomas, St. John, Tortola, Gorda too,
Barbados, Antigua, Jamaica, Grenada, Curaçao—me and you.
Sunset gold, nightlife glow,
Caribbean vibes, let the reggae flow.
The verses move geographically — St. Thomas and St. John, across to Tortola and Virgin Gorda, then down the island chain through Barbados, Jamaica, Grenada, Curaçao. It’s almost a sailing itinerary set to reggae rhythm. This is fitting because a lot of these lines came from being on the water.
“Skating through the bay, we ride the nights.” Anyone who’s e-foiled across a bay at speed will know why “skating” is the word. You feel almost weightless above the surface. You’re flying and sliding at the same time, and the bay opens up beneath you.
Caribbean Vibes is a song about being present somewhere beautiful. I hope it sounds like it.
